Last updated: September 2026. Short version: your map is yours — we only use your data to run VoicingMap, and we never sell it.
1. What we collect
Account data: email address, username and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth). We never see your plain-text password.
Profile data: nickname and any details you choose to add to your profile.
Map content: pins, voice notes, images, videos, mentions, saved places, plans and related metadata (location, timestamps).
Technical data: device, browser, approximate location (only when you grant permission), and usage analytics to improve the product.
2. How we use it
To create and secure your account, including sending verification, password-reset and security emails.
To display your pins, plans and mentions on the map for you, your friends, or publicly — depending on your own visibility choices.
To moderate globally-visible pins, prevent abuse (including reCAPTCHA checks), and keep the map safe.
To improve VoicingMap, fix bugs, and understand which features are useful.
3. Sharing
We do not sell your personal data.
We share data only with infrastructure providers needed to run the service: hosting (Vercel), database and auth (Supabase), email delivery (Resend via SMTP), and analytics where enabled.
Friends-only content (stickers, mentions, favourites) is visible only to people you approve. Public plans and approved pins may be visible to everyone and indexed by search engines.
4. Storage and security
Data is stored in the EU/US regions of our providers and protected with encryption in transit and at rest.
Passwords are hashed by our auth provider. Access to production data is limited to administrators.
No method is 100% secure, but we monitor for abuse and review admin actions on reported pins.
5. Your rights
You can edit your profile, delete pins and plans, and sign out at any time from your profile page.
You can request export or deletion of your account data by contacting us. We will respond within 30 days.
You can withdraw location or microphone permissions in your browser at any time — the map will keep working with reduced features.
6. Cookies and tracking
We use strictly-necessary cookies for authentication and preferences (theme, session).
Optional analytics (Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity where enabled) help us understand usage. You can block them with your browser or an ad-blocker without breaking core features.
7. Children
VoicingMap is not directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
